Shutdown Set to End
When will Federal Workers get backpay?
November 11 | Veteran’s Day Update
Today was originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the day WWI hostilities came to an end.
We’re believing that 2025’s Armistice Day (now known as Veterans Day) will similarly honor the perseverance and sacrifice of all our Federal Employees.
More than a ceremonial holiday, it’s a day that reminds us of the ongoing responsibility to care for those who have served. This Veterans Day, we honor those who served in uniform — and those who continue that service every day as federal employees.
Here’s what Federal Employees can expect next.
Once Congress passes the continuing resolutions and President signs it, agencies must begin processing back pay at “the earlies date possible” which means they don’t have to wait for the next payday, but can accelerate payments. Although a pay-back guarantee is included in the Senate legislation, it may take agencies a hot minute to process back-pay; depending on the complexity of their system and size of their backlog.
We know this isn’t the news anyone wants to hear, but back-pay processing could take several weeks once operations resume.
If you haven’t already done this, contact your landlord or mortgage lender and your credit card companies about about temporary deferments and payment deferrals. Connect with local food banks and consider a low-interest loan from a reputable lender like your credit union or through a family support agreement with clear payback terms.

Many of our federal colleagues are veterans who continue their commitment to country through civil service. Your dedication to mission, integrity, and the public good embodies the same spirit of service that defines our armed forces.
Today, and every day, we express our gratitude for your service, sacrifice, and steadfast devotion to the nation we all serve.

Could furloughed federal employees really lose their pay?
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has circulated a memo that argues that back-pay isn’t required unless congress votes on it as part of the NEW appropriations budget. Is this just more politicking or is there a loop-hole in the 2019 payback-policy (GEFTA).
Is it True?
